Don't miss out before your next holiday's even started. Here's how to be the early bird that gets the worm when booking your pitch.
There's never a better time to book your next caravan holiday than right now. Even more so because the popularity of our favourite hobby is increasing year on year, with more interest from celebrities and television coverage for caravanning than ever.
However, with the increase in attention comes more people hitching up and heading out to pitch on a site that you want to visit on holiday. Do your research early and book your break before anyone else to avoid disappointment.
Why book in advance?
The best way to up your level of relaxation and lower any stress is to plan ahead.
Other than simple peace of mind, there are many reasons for booking your touring trip in advance. The biggest of these is the fact that many peak season pitches fill up a lot faster than you may expect, especially if they're close to a popular event at a certain time of year.
How early you need to book depends on a few points to do with your circumstance:
- How popular is the site/area you want to stay at?
- How long do you want to be away for and are you flexible with dates?
- Will your trip be in peak season?
Many sites and park groups offer bargains and discounts for early bird bookers, too. These can be anything from 10% off your pitch to meal deals at the on-site restaurant or passes to a nearby attraction.
Get organised early
While there is a romantisism to the last minute holiday, the best way to up your level of relaxation and lower any stress is to plan ahead. This is especially true for family holidays, where scheduling is key for the kids. Park Resorts play host to coastal caravan havens throughout the UK, with special offers all year round on its website.
Adults Only
Want a pitch without children? Adult-only group Tranquil Parks regularly updates its website with deals aplenty for the time conscious caravanner across its portfolio of 39 parks nationwide. These include free nights and reduced rates for both touring holidays and seasonal stays.
Show time
Another important reason to book early can be to attend caravan shows such as those held at the NEC in February and October, or the annual Club events. All of these are incredibly well attended by touring fanatics, so sites all over the area fill up fast.
What if you get caught short?
Even if your chosen site is fully booked, it's not game over for your holiday dreams. There are many CL and CS locations that, while smaller and usually made up of just five pitches, are often overlooked by those heading for bigger sites. Find your corner of caravanning bliss and make the most of it while others cram in to full sites.
Heading abroad?
If your touring takes you further afield than the UK, you'll need to plan well in advance not only for the sites but for ferry bookings and the like, too.
CampingCard ACSI offers you an almost endless source of off-season discounts for thousands of campsites in 20 European countries.
Why haven't you booked yet?
Overall, the sooner you get your caravan holiday in the diary, the longer you have to look forward to it. Beat the rush, bag the bargains and book now.
