Touring Caravan installation at Nottingham Primary School

A local primary school in Nottinghamshire was short on space, and short on cash. So the staff came up with a fantastic idea that would solve their problems...

After stripping the caravan bare and redesigning the interior they created a unique teaching space, which will be used for one-to-one and small group lessons.

Donated by a local scrapyard the school, Sneinton Church of England Primary School, installed a touring caravan in their playground.

The children are so excited...they all want to have a go inside!

The Teaching Assistants grouped together, and redesigned the caravan back to its former glory. The 'van now boasts sunshine yellow painted walls, freshly covered sofas, and bright flowers covering the exterior.

The new unique space will be used for one-to-one teaching, and small group lessons. With students aged three to eleven sharing the facility.

We wanted a novel idea that would be a bit different and get the children working.

The caravan classroom has been renamed the 'Intervention Van', and sits proudly in the schools playground.

Lead teaching assistant Alison Spitzmuller said:
"It will be a place for learning and providing experience. We will have groups of children working in here and there is a reading area inside too! The children are so excited...they all want to have a go inside!"

Such a fantastic solution to their space problem! We hope the caravan proves successful for the school, and we applaud their creativity.
